The International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress is a major global gathering focused on the future of archival practice in a rapidly changing digital environment. It’s 25th edition was held at CCIB in Barcelona. In collaboration with Onionlab, we created an interactive LED installation where more than 125.000 archival documents spanning from the XI to the XXI century became a constantly evolving visual system.
Through a dynamic composition of light, data and movement powered by Onionlab the screens transformed historical records into a fluid stream of images and metadata. With a simple hand gesture, visitors could open and explore specific documents, turning consultation into a physical and intuitive experience. An installation designed to present the archive as a living organism active, connected and continuously reshaped by interaction.
